Day 2/ Yerevan City Sightseeing Tour
After breakfast at the hotel (10:00), we will get acquainted with the ancient city of Yerevan. The city earned the name “pink city” thanks to the pink tuff, which is the main ingredient in the construction of the buildings. We will head from the Republic Square surrounded by the government buildings, Marriott Hotel and History Museum; continue along the most famous Abovyan Street and through the richest Northern Avenue to get to the Opera House with a stop at the Swan Lake. Day 3/ Yerevan – Garni Temple – Geghard Monastery – Stone Simphony – Khor Virap Monastery – Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel (10:00), Garni Temple, the only surviving pagan temple in the territory of Caucasus. Lunch tasting traditional Armenian dishes at a local house-garden. Master class of “lavash” baking and barbeque making in the underground oven “tonir”(optional*). Enjoying a traditional refreshing healthy drink of “tan” (a sour milk drink prepared by diluting the Armenian yogurt with cold water) will be much more pleasant in the hot weather. Proceed to the magnificent monastic complex of Geghard, which is inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites). Our next stop will be Khor Virap monastery, the most famous pilgrimage site in Armenia, as it is directly connected with the adoption of Christianity. As a state religion, Christianity in Armenia was adopted in 301 due to endeavors of Saint Gregory The Illuminator, who, before converting King Trdat The 3rd to Christianity, was imprisoned in the dungeon, over which a church of Khor Virap monastery was built in the 17th century. Day 4/ Yerevan – Lake Sevan – Dilijan – Lake Parz – Ijevan – Apaga Resort
After breakfast at the hotel (09:00), we will drive to Lake Sevan, the pearl of our mountainous country and one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes in Eurasia. See Sevanavank monastic complex, located on the peninsula, overlooking the whole beauty of the lake. Currently a religious seminary functions here which is not readily open to the public. After we will drive to Dilijan to enjoy the 19th century appearance of the town. This wonderfully forested region is rich in mineral waters. Some of them are compared with Wichi in France and Davos in Switzerland. Dilijan is “the Switzerland of Armenia.” Our next stop will be Lake Parz, which formed by springs. The length is 300 m, the width – 100 m. Average depth is 3 m, approximate – 10 m. The lake is surrounded by forests. Water in the lake is transparent, a little greenish. As the forests are very close to the shoreline, the massive trees, leaning to the lake, are reflected in the water. The name “Parz lich” literally means “clear lake”. After we will drive to Ijevan, Yenokavan village to have overnight in Apaga Resort, is an ideal solution to have a rest outside the urban fuss in Armenias mountains. Near Apaga Resort located Yell Extreme Park, which is a unique destination where people can try various activities such as zip-line, paragliding, rope park, via ferrata or horizontal climbing, zorbing, paintball, horseback riding and off-road tour by Yell Truck. Day 5/ Apaga Resort - Odzun Church – Lori Castle – Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel (09:00), we will drive to Lori region to help you discover the wonders of Lori and will make you feel the spirit of ancient architecture accompanied with breathtaking nature of the Lori region of Armenia. Our frist stop will be Odzun Monastery, a majestic 6th century monument located in the centre of Odzun village. The church was built by King Tridates III in 303-313 and then blessed by Grigor the Illuminator (the first Armenian Catholicos). Odzun is an Armenian basilica. The name of the church comes from the Armenian word "otsel" (meaning "anoint"). And then we will continue to Lori fortress, which used to be a big cultural and trading centre. Walking by the ruins of the fortress try to imagine the erstwhile bustling lanes and the lively atmosphere… almost 10,000 people once lived in that territory. In Lori were found different tools, weapons, jewelry, different vessels made of clay, glass or stone. This shows that different kinds of handicrafts were well developed in Lori. Day 6/ Yerevan – Aparan – Amberd – Lake Kari - Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel (10:00) we will head to Aparan, one of the prominent cities in Aragatsotn. Our first stop will be Amberd Fortress, translated to “fortress in the clouds”, is a 10th-century fortress 2,300 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Aragats. Starting as a Stone Age settlement, this fortress has gone through a lot of history. According to some sources, Amberd was the summer residence of Armenian monarchs. In the end, it was captured and destroyed by the Mongols in 1236. It was left untouched until the 20th century when it was reconstructed. Near the fortress is the Vahramashen Church, otherwise called the Church of Amberd. It was built for the Pahlavuni family’s Prince Vahram Pahlavuni. The church was completed around the year 1026 according to an inscription on the inside wall of the north portal. Drive back to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan. (B/-/-)
